Website Design for B2B Companies: How I Rebuilt Blaze Signs’ Digital Presence From the Ground Up

A four-month journey of brand transformation, technical learning, and measurable success in the B2B signage industry.

In early 2024, Blaze Signs—a leading B2B signage supplier to major UK retailers, needed a website that reflected the strength and scale of their brand. The existing site lacked flexibility, failed to deliver strong search performance, and simply didn’t match the energy of the company’s work. It became clear we needed a modern approach to website design for B2B companies—one that could reflect who we are and drive business growth.

As their Brand & Marketing Manager, I took on the challenge to rebuild their website from scratch, despite having no formal training in web design or WordPress. The result? A 50+ page, fully custom, SEO-driven digital platform that boosted traffic by 82% and led to a 60% rise in customer enquiries.

This is the story of that transformation, and how it represents what’s possible with strategic, user-focused website design for B2B companies.

The Challenge: Why Website Design for B2B Companies Needs a Different Mindset

Blaze Signs had evolved significantly since 2020. but our digital presence couldn’t evolve at the same rate. We needed:

  • Full creative control over layout and content
  • A more interactive, engaging user experience
  • A consistent digital extension of our brand identity
  • Improved SEO performance targeting key B2B search terms
  • Scalable page architecture to support future growth

In short, we needed a complete rebuild from the ground up, including our website design for B2B companies approach.

Learning to Build: My Crash Course in B2B Website Design

With no professional background in web development, I enrolled in a two-month intensive to learn:

  • Website design fundamentals
  • WordPress management
  • Elementor Pro page-building
  • UI/UX principles
  • Web performance optimisation
  • SEO best practices for B2B websites
  • Responsive web design for mobile users

By course end, I was ready to bring all the knowledge to life through a B2B-focused digital transformation.

“I didn’t just want to build a website that looked good. I wanted it to work hard, visually, functionally, and commercially.”

Core Goals & Design Decisions for B2B Website Strategy

Fluidity Without Compromise

To deliver fluid interactivity, we used animations (hover effects, scroll-based transitions) carefully, so speed and performance remained top-tier, which is essential for website design for B2B companies aiming to rank well.

Brand Consistency Across Touchpoints

Consistency was key. I embedded custom fonts, followed brand colours strictly, and used Elementor Pro’s design system to standardise headers and typography across devices.

Strategic Content Expansion

To boost SEO and user engagement, we added:

  • Product and signage capabilities
  • Industry and market insights
  • ESG and accreditation pages
  • Extended case studies and testimonials

These 50+ pages were all built with a B2B website strategy in mind: to target client needs and rank effectively.

From Wireframe to Reality: A Ground-Up B2B Website Build

We started with a blank canvas… No pre-built themes. The homepage defined our visual language, and then that rolled out across the site. Reusable Elementor blocks and global styles ensured every page felt cohesive and aligned.

Responsive Web Design for Mobile Users

Mobile, tablet, desktop, each device was tested, adjusted, and optimised in a two-week sprint to ensure fast, reliable access for clients on any device.

Feedback That Shaped the Final Result

Before launch, we implemented a two-phase feedback process.

Internal Stakeholder Reviews

A group of nearly a dozen team members, from operations, sales, design, and leadership, reviewed the site. Their insights improved usability, messaging, and performance.

Client Preview

Next, key clients were invited to preview the site. This created meaningful engagement and highlighted how much we value client voices—a smart marketing move that built trust and transparency.

A Big Launch: The #ItsNotEveryday Campaign

To introduce it, we launched a two-week integrated campaign, #ItsNotEveryday, teasers via email, social, and video—creating anticipation and ensuring stakeholder and client buy-in.
